When it comes to lithium batteries, safety is everything. That’s why every SEAL™ Series Lithium Battery from ABYSS includes an integrated Aerosol Fire Suppression System — a revolutionary layer of protection designed to instantly detect and suppress thermal runaway before it becomes a fire risk.
? How It Works
If internal temperatures rise above 356°F (180°C) — often the result of a thermal runaway — the system’s thermal sensor activates the aerosol fire suppressor. In less than a second, a multi-phase suppression reaction is triggered, including:
? Gas-Phase Chemical Inhibition
Vaporized metal ions (Sr, K, Mg) in the aerosol react with high-energy radicals like H•, •OH, and O• — breaking the chain reactions that sustain combustion.
? Solid-Phase Chemical Suppression
Ultrafine solid particles (10⁻⁹ to 10⁻⁶ m) rapidly adsorb and neutralize reactive species in the flame — halting fire propagation at the molecular level.
❄️ Endothermic Cooling & Oxygen Reduction
The system absorbs large amounts of heat and releases inert gases (N₂ and CO₂) to lower local temperatures and reduce oxygen concentration — starving the fire of its fuel.
⚙️ What’s Inside the Suppressor?
Solid agents: K₂CO₃, SiO₂, KNO₂, CaCO₃, Al₂O₃
Gases released: Nitrogen (N₂), Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), Water Vapor (H₂O), trace gases like NO₂ and NH₃
All of this is housed inside a compact, pressure-relief-protected canister, embedded directly into the SEAL battery housing.
✅ Why It Matters
Traditional lithium batteries are vulnerable to internal faults, overheating, and external abuse — leading to rare but serious fire risks. The ABYSS fire suppression system:
Activates autonomously
Reacts in milliseconds
Requires no maintenance
Adds zero user complexity
This is marine-grade safety built into the battery — not as an add-on, but as a core feature.
This advanced system is what makes the SEAL™ battery the safest lithium marine battery on the market today — trusted by OEM builders, tournament anglers, and offshore pros alike.
